/The Olfenbuttel family is proud to have their mother and wife Ingrid Olfenbuttel honored at this year’s tennis tournament to support pancreatic cancer research and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Born in Emden Germany in 1938, she was the youngest of five siblings and grew up during World War II on the North Sea island of Borkum. After extensive travel in Europe, she attended university in Madrid, Spain and later came to the United States where she met and married Robert Olfenbuttel. After Robert’s retirement from the Air Force, they moved to Upper Arlington where she returned to banking, first with Century Bank and than by proudly helping to open and work for the Arlington Bank. After helping hundreds of customers, she retired in 2000 and enjoyed gardening, rescuing stray animals, and spending time with her daughters. She was known as “The Book Aunt” and inspired us with her generosity, compassion, love of learning, and unfailing & dynamic energy. She died in 2003 at age 63 with dignity and grace.
